USC has more bad news to deal with before its season opener against Alabama.
As reported by Joey Kaufman of the Orange County Register, police in Cottonwood Heights, Utah, are investigating Trojans reserve linebacker Osa Masina for alleged sexual assault. Earlier Tuesday, it was reported that Masina had been suspended for the matchup against the Crimson Tide on Saturday for violating team rules and would not travel to Dallas.

Ashton Edwards of FOX 13 Salt Lake City reports that the incident allegedly happened in Salt Lake County this summer. Edwards reports that the Cottonwood Heights Police Department, with assistance from the Los Angeles Police Department, served a search warrant last week at USC’s practice facility.
As stated in Masina’s USC bio, the sophomore was a prospect for “key playing time at inside linebacker” this season. Last year, he appeared in 12 games and had 25 tackles, with 1.5 for loss.
