When Terrell Owens was on an NFL field, you always needed to get your popcorn ready before watching him play. But when it comes to Twitter, Owens more closely resembles burnt popcorn than anything else.
The future Pro Football Hall of Famer took to Twitter early Tuesday morning to react to Alabama’s 35-31 national championship game loss to Clemson with a dad joke that even makes dads cringe.

That’s Alabama freshman quarterback Jalen Hurts in the photo. Get it? Of course you do. And you probably groaned as loud as we did when we read it.
Twitter reacted accordingly.

While T.O.’s message was more than a little cheesy, he certainly wasn’t wrong.
Besides the obvious fact that every championship loss hurts — dynasty program or not — watching Alabama freshman quarterback Jalen Hurts fail to succeed against Clemson’s defense had to be doubly disappointing for Crimson Tide fans, who enjoyed an excellent season from the youngster until that point.
But Hurts’ ugly line — 13 of 31 passing with just one touchdown — played a significant role in Alabama’s loss, especially in the second half, when Hurts completed just 6 of 15 passes for 89 yards and a touchdown. Had it not been for his one big completion (68 yards) to tight end O.J. Howard, that line would’ve been a dismal 5 of 15 for 21 yards.
That’s not a championship performance, and it most definitely hurts. But that terrible T.O. Twitter pun arguably hurt just as much.
