Jeffrey McCulloch, one of the nation’s top outside linebackers, says Alabama is very much in the mix to land his signature when he announces on National Signing Day.
McCulloch, a four-star prospect from Aldine Davis High School (Houston), told SEC Country’s Zach Abolverdi at the Under Armour All-America game luncheon, why Alabama has a chance with him.
“Preparation for the next level,” McCulloch said. “I like that Coach (Nick) Saban just breeds talent at the next level.”
Some fans may wonder if Kirby Smart’s departure hurts Alabama’s chances to land him, but he made it clear that it doesn’t matter.
“I didn’t even talk to (Smart),” McCulloch said. I talk to (Alabama outside linebackers coach Tosh) Lupoi and (Alabama defensive line coach Bo) Davis.”
The 6-foot-3, 230-pounder will take an official visit to Alabama on Jan. 22 and then will visit Texas A&M the following weekend. He’ll visit Texas on Jan. 15. He visited Stanford and Notre Dame in the fall.
McCulloch is rated as the nation’s No. 7 outside linebacker and is the No. 14 overall prospect in the state of Texas.
