As word spread that Alabama offensive tackle Cam Robinson and defensive back Laurence “Hootie” Jones would not be prosecuted following their May arrests, so did the district attorney’s explanation for not pursuing the case.
“I want to emphasize once again that the main reason I’m doing this is because I refuse to ruin the lives of two young who have spent their adolescence and teenage years, working out and sweating, while we were all in air conditioning,” District Attorney Jerry Jones (not the owner of the Dallas Cowboys) told KNOE 8 News in Monroe, La.

The DA’s decision and his quote sparked much discussion on Twitter, some of which were incredibly hilarious. Other reactions included surprise and disgust. Here’s a sampling of some of the best.

The DA cites other reasons for dropping charges. But this feels like a first: Lack of air conditioning can get you out of gun/drug charges.
