Avery Johnson is no longer in the NBA and his stint with ESPN is over. But wherever the Alabama coach’s career takes him, he still appears to be in basketball shape.
ESPN analysts were in Tuscaloosa, Ala. on Friday, mostly to prepare for Saturday’s College GameDay for the big Texas A&M-Alabama football clash. But the Crimson Tide were also hosting a basketball tipoff event on Friday night in Coleman Coliseum.
Earlier in the day, Johnson participated in a 3-point contest with a few of his former ESPN colleagues, including Marty Smith and David Pollack. While shooting 3’s was never Johnson’s strong suit during his 10-year NBA career, he still managed to be better than his former coworkers.
Johnson hit three of his five shot attempts to secure the win. Watch some highlights of the contest below:

Johnson’s Crimson Tide open their season with a home contest against Coastal Carolina on Nov. 11.
