Hundreds of future college football players are in Beaverton, Ore., this week for The Opening, a Nike-sponsored showcase that features some of the nation’s top gridiron stars.
But football was not the only sport being played Wednesday.
Five athletes took part in a dunk contest at the facilities, including Alabama recruit Devonta Smith, a 4-star receiver from Amite High in Louisiana.
Smith, who is also considering Miami, Nebraska and Mississippi State, is a two-star athlete at Amite, and you can see why teams love the 6-foot-1 prospect’s vertical jump below:
SEC Country recruiting expert Chris Kirschner expects Smith to commit to Alabama, with Miami being the only serious challenger at this juncture.
