While Derrick Henry was accepting the Heisman Trophy in New York on Saturday night, much of his family was nearly 1,000 miles away in a Jacksonville, Fla., hospital.
That’s where Henry’s 81-year-old grandmother, Gladys Henry, is resting following a tracheotomy.
She and several of Henry’s relatives were able to watch him put an exclamation mark on his record-setting regular season.
“It was one of the biggest moments of my life,” Gladys told AL.com‘s Joseph Goodman.
