TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Alabama coach Nick Saban likes to be very close to the action during games and occasionally, he gets in the way of a play.
That happened during the Crimson Tide’s A-Day scrimmage on Saturday, when pressure from the defense forced quarterback Blake Barnett to scramble near Saban. Saban tried to avoid Barnett, but the redshirt freshman ended up running into his coach anyway.
Following the game, Saban was asked about his “sack.”
“I think that on occasion — more than one occasion — when there’s a scramble, everyone seems to get attracted to me,” Saban said, jokingly. “Sometimes when there’s an interception, there seems to be an unusual attraction for players to converge on me. I think it’s intentional to some degree, but as long as I don’t get hurt, I really don’t care. I usually can get out of the way, but I didn’t do a very good job of that today.”
