BRUNSWICK, Ga. — Alabama or Georgia will land one of the nation’s top offensive linemen Wednesday afternoon.
D’Antne Demery, a 4-star offensive tackle from Brunswick High School, will announce his commitment to either the Crimson Tide or Bulldogs shortly after the conclusion of the Golden Isles exposure camp at his school.
The nation’s No. 16 offensive tackle told SEC Country earlier this week that he’s already made up his decision. Here’s what he had to say about his two finalists:
On Alabama: “They are real tough people,” Demery said. “I love to work hard and Nick Saban is a great coach…It was Nick Saban who I really talked to. He is a great coach, down-to-earth man and he is going to tell you what’s real. He isn’t going to sugarcoat anything.”
On Georgia: “Kirby and the people at Georgia,” Demery said. “They are real cool. They want to know you. I love that about UGA. It’s kind of like the people in Brunswick, where I am from.”
The Bulldogs are the perceived favorites to land the 6-foot-6, 319-pound prospect when he announces his commitment, but he did tell SEC Country that most people are going to be surprised to learn about how close his decision was between the two schools. If he does choose Georgia, he would be the Bulldogs’ 11th commitment in the Class of 2017. Alabama would pick up its sixth commitment in the past nine days if Demery decided on the Tide.
You will be able to watch Demery make his announcement live on SEC Country’s Facebook page around 12:30 ET.
