2017 SEC Power Poll: Where Arkansas is ranked (Week 8)

Eric Bolin

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Arkansas is ranked 12th in the Week 8 of the SEC Country Power Poll of the 2017 season. The Razorbacks are in the same spot they have been for the past two weeks, ahead of just Vanderbilt and Missouri.

The poll consists of more than two dozen voters from the SEC Country staff.

Arkansas lost 52-20 to Auburn on Saturday at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium. The Tigers had 629 yards of total offense, and Auburn coach Gus Malzahn moved to 4-1 against Arkansas head man Bret Bielema in their mutual five-year tenures at each school.

The Razorbacks are still winless in the SEC at 0-4. They’re the only team without a victory in the SEC West, though Vanderbilt, Tennessee and Missouri are also 0-4 in the SEC East. Tennesee was ranked 10th in this week’s SEC Country Power Poll. Arkansas plays Missouri in the final regular-season game of the year on the day after Thanksgiving and does not play Vanderbilt or the Volunteers this year.

Arkansas can move into sixth in the SEC West with a win in Week 9 against Ole Miss. Bielema’s team heads to Oxford, Miss., for a noon ET kickoff. The Rebels are coming off a 40-24 loss to LSU on Saturday.

The last time Arkansas played at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, the Razorbacks took advantage of the ‘Hunter Heave,’ a 4th-and-25 conversion in overtime, and shocked Chad Kelly and the Rebels, 53-52, in 2015.

The lowest Arkansas was ranked in any pollster’s poll this week was 14th, or, last. The highest Arkansas was ranked was eighth. Votes are not made public except by the individual writer at his or her discretion.
