[UPDATE: Since SEC Country’s initial report, several media outlets have reported that Gooden has said he remains committed to Arkansas. SEC Country stands by its initial report.]
Defensive lineman Emmit Gooden is no longer on Arkansas’ commitment list, SEC Country has learned. He had been pledged to the Razorbacks since last June, though on several occasions his commitment was brought into question.
Gooden is a 3-star defensive tackle in the 2018 class. He currently attends Independence (Kan.) Community College. In seven games this season, he has 55 tackles and a 4 sacks. He is originally from Brownsville, Tenn.
The Razorbacks offered defensive tackle Noah Jefferson from Arizona Western on Wednesday evening. That, apparently, upset Gooden and led him to post a tweet that called his commitment into question Thursday morning.
“I had to cut them off they wasn’t loyal #FreeAgent,” wrote Gooden in a tweet that has since been deleted.
Gooden also tweeted that he was “de-committed” last month. That tweet has also been deleted and he later said his account was hacked. He previously had a reference to the Razorbacks in his Twitter profile. That was no longer the case on Thursday.
He expects to sign a National Letter of Intent in December and be enrolled for the spring 2018 semester at his next school.
