Curl’s announcement coming earlier
Arkansas 2017 safety target Kamren Curl says Jan. 19 will be the date of his commitment decision. He previously planned to wait until National Signing Day on Feb. 1 to announce.
Curl (6-foot-2, 180 pounds) is a 3-star recruit from Muskogee (Okla.) High School. Arkansas, Baylor, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, TCU and Texas are his final choices. He is one of the Hogs’ top remaining targets as the coaching staff looks to fill the final few spots in this class. Head coach Bret Bielema and defensive backs coach Paul Rhoads made an in-home visit to Curl on Thursday night.
The new announcement date has also changed his plans to officially visit Fayetteville. His previous plan was to make the visit the weekend of Jan. 27-29, just before National Signing Day. Sources close to the situation say Curl will still take an official visit, with the weekend of Jan. 20-22 now expected to be the dates.
While that sounds like good news for Arkansas’ chances, many things are possible. It’s likely he’s committing to the Hogs and capping that decision off with a visit starting the next day. There’s also the possibility of Curl committing elsewhere and still taking the visit, or canceling the visit altogether between now and then.
Bielema visits 2017 DL target
Before his visit with Curl on Thursday, Bielema saw 2017 defensive line target Malik Young from Eastern Arizona College.
Young (6-3, 285) is a 3-star recruit with reported offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona State, Tennessee and several other Power 5 Conference programs. Originally from Marietta, Ga., he was named a first-team NJCAA All-American for his play during the 2016 season. He was also named the Western States Football League Defensive Player of the Year.
The Razorbacks are certainly looking to add at least one more defensive lineman in this class. Madison Prep Academy (Baton Rouge, La.) 3-star end Troy James is the only current commit in the position group.

Arkansas visits, offers No. 1 2018 OT
Hogs offensive line coach Kurt Anderson was in Ohio on Thursday to check out 5-star prospect Jackson Carman.
Carman (6-6, 300) is the No. 1 offensive tackle and No. 8 overall player in the 2018 class. He attends Fairfield (Ohio) High School. Anderson was at the school visiting with Carman’s coach.
Arkansas also opted to extend an offer to Carman on Thursday. He now has 38 reported offers from FBS programs.
Hogs offer 2018 DB
Arkansas also offered 2018 defensive back Joseph Foucha on Thursday. He is a 3-star recruit from McDonogh 35 High School in New Orleans. Wide receivers coach Michael Smith was in that area throughout the day.
Foucha (6-0, 190) has offers from 11 FBS programs. Auburn, Florida State, Mississippi State and Virginia Tech are among his other offers.
The Hogs currently have two commits in the 2018 class — 4-star linebacker Bumper Pool and 4-star quarterback Connor Noland.
