Welcome to SEC Country’s daily Arkansas Razorbacks recruiting notebook. This time, we discuss the Hogs’ recent plethora of 2018 offers, safety target Kamren Curl’s decision and an in-state target with a major offer.
Arkansas extending plethora of 2018 offers
Arkansas’ coaching staff has been heavily active sending out offers for the 2018 class the past week.
Since last Thursday, seven recruits in the class have reported offers from the Razorbacks. Four were offered on Tuesday alone.
Two of the offers have been to top 50 prospects in the class — 5-star offensive tackle Jackson Carman and 4-star defensive end Max Wright. Offensive line coach Kurt Anderson was at Carman’s high school last week in Fairfield, Ohio, when he offered the No. 1 offensive tackle and No. 8 overall recruit in the class. Wright, the No. 40 overall prospect from Taylor High School (Katy, Texas), reported his offer Tuesday.
Here’s the full list of reported 2018 offers since last Thursday:
- Jackson Carman, 5-star OT, 6-foot-6, 300 pounds, Fairfield (Ohio) High School
- Curtis Dunlap, 4-star OG, 6-5, 350, IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.)
- Daniel Faalele, OT, 6-9, 390, IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.)
- Joseph Foucha, 3-star DB, 6-0, 190, McDonough 35 High School (New Orleans)
- Greg Newson, 6-2, 176, Glenbard North High School (Carol Stream, Ill.)
- Cameron Wire, 6-7, 260, East Ascension High School (Gonzales, Texas)
- Max Wright, 4-star DE, 6-5, 255, Taylor High School (Katy, Texas)
Curl sets decision time
Arkansas 2017 safety target Kamren Curl is set to announce his commitment decision at 4 p.m. Thursday. Curl (6-2, 180) will make the announcement at Muskogee (Okla.) High School.
The 3-star recruit is one of the top remaining targets in the class for the Razorbacks as they look to fill the final few spots ahead of National Signing Day. The Hogs have 21 combined commits and signees and are expected to sign 23 to 25 total.
Curl’s final choices are Arkansas, Baylor, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, TCU and Texas. He has plans to officially visit Arkansas this weekend. It’s unclear how or if his announcement Thursday will alter those plans. He unofficially visited Fayetteville for the Razorbacks’ win against Florida in November.
In-state prospect Bohanon gets ‘Bama offer
Earle (Ark.) High School 2018 athlete Gerry Bohanon received an offer from Alabama on Monday.
Bohanon (6-4, 220) currently is an unrated prospect with his only other offers coming from Arkansas State and Memphis. Both of those things are almost certain to change in the near future now that the Crimson Tide has offered.
A quarterback throughout his high school career, Bohanon could potentially play several positions at the next level. He passed for more than 2,500 yards and rushed in excess of 1,000 yards last season. Earle, a small town less than 30 miles west of Memphis, Tenn., is a Class 2A football school.
Though the Hogs have yet to offer him, they have shown consistent interest. He’s definitely one to keep an eye on going forward.
