STILLWATER, Okla. — Welp.
Arkansas saw its 4-game winning streak go down in flames Saturday, when Oklahoma State thoroughly beat the Razorbacks 99-71 in front of a raucous Gallagher-Iba Arena crowd.
It was the Hogs’ most lopsided loss of the season.
The Cowboys jumped out to a 9-0 lead after the opening tip and never looked back.
Arkansas didn’t score until a Jaylen Barford dunk 3 minutes into the game. Barford led the Hogs with a career-high 21 points.
Oklahoma State shot 50 percent from the field and 45 percent from beyond the 3-point line. Arkansas, meanwhile, was 41.4 percent and 27.8 percent in those categories, respectively.
The Razorbacks had outrebounded opponents in every game during that winning streak, but Saturday, Oklahoma State won that battle 44-29.
The shellacking Saturday comes only a few days after Arkansas’ emotional, impressive come-from-behind effort to beat Vanderbilt.
It wasn’t an SEC game, but the Hogs (16-5 overall, 5-3 SEC) certainly didn’t represent their conference well Saturday against the Cowboys, who are tied at the bottom of the current Big 12 standings.
There really was no “turning point” Saturday because Oklahoma State dominated from start to finish. In this — the Cowboys’ first season under coach Brad Underwood — Oklahoma State has sought to “bring the rowdy back” to Gallagher-Iba Arena.
Not every seat was filled Saturday, but Oklahoma State announced the game as a sellout and the home crowd was tremendous and disruptive.
Stat line of the game
Arkansas junior guard Daryl Macon — who entered the game as the Hogs’ second-leading scorer — did not score at all Saturday. He was 0 for 8 from the field and 0 of 6 from beyond the arc in 25 minutes.
The Oklahoma State loss represents the first scoreless game of Macon’s Arkansas career.
The Hogs return home to Bud Walton Arena to face Alabama at 7 p.m. ET Wednesday in a game broadcast on SEC Network.
