Arkansas sophomore pitcher Blaine Knight has been named to the midseason watch list for Golden Spikes Award.
Knight is one of 40 players on the list, which USA Baseball released Wednesday. The award is given annually to the top amateur baseball player in the country. This season, it will be presented June 29 in Los Angeles.
A native of Bryant, Ark., Knight is 5-1 this season with a 1.94 earned run average in eight starts. He has 54 strikeouts to just 5 walks, a ratio which leads the SEC and is seventh nationally. The Razorbacks are 4-0 when Knight has started in conference games.
Former Arkansas outfielder Andrew Benintendi won the Golden Spikes Award in 2015, becoming the only Razorback to receive the honor.
