FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Arkansas coach Bret Bielema has never shied away from saying controversial things, even about other programs. And on Wednesday, he took a thinly-veiled shot at Michigan.
Arkansas and Michigan were scheduled to play a home-and-home series in 2018 and 2019 until the Wolverines canceled in early July to make room for a renewed rivalry with Notre Dame.
In college football scheduling, two years is not much time at all to find a replacement game, so Michigan’s cancelation left the Hogs in a bit of a rough position.
During Bielema’s appearance before the Northwest Arkansas Touchdown Club on Wednesday afternoon, he was discussing his team’s upcoming home-and-home with TCU.
The Hogs visit TCU this season, and the Horned Frogs make a return trip in 2017.
“Great opportunity for us to play one of the best teams in college football over there,” Bielema said of TCU. “Neat thing is they’re coming here next year … unless they Michigan us.”
