HOOVER, Ala. — Arkansas coach Bret Bielema expressed disappointment in Michigan’s decision to cancel an upcoming home-and-home series, but — initially, at least — declined to elaborate on which teams might replace the Wolverines on future schedules.
“I would love to give you a teaser, but I’d probably get slapped,” Bielema joked during his appearance on the main stage Wednesday at SEC Media Days.
Later Wednesday, though, during a smaller interview session with reporters, Bielema provided a little more information on who he would like to see his team play in 2018 and 2019.
“A team that is a nontraditional matchup with us, so an East-coast team or a West-coast team that is in a popular city where our fans might like to go,” Bielema said, noting that while he was a Wisconsin assistant in 2005, the Badgers played at Hawaii.
Teams Bielema threw out as appealing opponents? Boston College, Syracuse, USC and Washington.
Of that list, Arkansas has only met USC in a prior game. The Razorbacks are 1-4 all-time against the Trojans, with the Hogs’ lone victory coming in 1974.
