Jason Kersey/SEC Country
Frank Broyles' legacy is everywhere at Arkansas.

Get well soon, Frank Broyles; is Cole Cubelic serious, bro?

With your bacon, have some Hogs for Breakfast. It’s SEC Country’s weekday column and roundup on all things Arkansas. Opinion, numbers, inane babble and more! And now with ironic exclamation points! There is no place like it on the web.

Get well soon, Frank Broyles

Frank Broyles is Arkansas athletics. The former coach and athletic director at the university is responsible for almost everything Razorbacks sports is today. And, sadly, he is in poor health.

Our Jason Kersey spoke with Broyles’ granddaughter, Molly Arnold, who said the coach is under hospice care. That doesn’t mean he’s in a hospice, as was speculated earlier Wednesday on Reddit and Twitter. You can get all the details in the linked piece.

Cole Cubelic is persona non grata in Arkansas now

(Hey, at least it isn’t me.)

Cole Cubelic is a college football analyst at SEC Network. He made waves in the Natural State on Wednesday when he announced he picked the Razorbacks to finish seventh, otherwise known as dead last in the SEC West.

Ruh roh. For the record, I picked Arkansas sixth (5-7 overall) during SEC Media Days last week.

Ranking every player on the Arkansas football roster

Our latest series at SEC Country has begun. Every day until, well, until we’re finished, Jason Kersey and I are previewing each Razorbacks position. We will have news, notes and remarks from their position coaches.

Best thing about it? It’s a perfect piece to use as a primer ahead of the start of camp next week because it will have real depth charts, or, as close to real as can be gleaned in July. Check out the first one with the quarterbacks, including all six.

The new basketball roster is official

Arkansas basketball released its summer roster on Wednesday to zero fanfare. It was just an update on the website, but it includes the jersey numbers, heights and weights of the five newcomers. The returners are also listed.

Worth noting, though, the returners are the same height and weight they were at last check, so those have not been updated. Arkansas opens the season Nov. 10 against Samford at Bud Walton Arena.

Hunter Heave is fifth-best moment

That is, according to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.

The outlet is counting down the top 25 games since Arkansas joined the SEC. It now is on to the top 5. Razorbacks vs Ole Miss, marked by tight end Hunter Henry’s lateral on fourth down, is its No. 5 choice. Curious to see the the next four.

Tweets and the like

Seems Arkansas might have another former Diamond Hogs dirtbagger heading to the majors sooner rather than later. Maybe.

It’s a good thing this happened in July before the season begins. Can you imagine the jokes if it happens in December, especially if Arkansas wins just six or fewer games?

Skip Breakfast? C’mon. It’s too important. Catch up with previous versions here.
