Hernandez finishes high school career with title
When 2017 Arkansas cornerback commit Korey Hernandez recently met with SEC Country, he had a goal: Help guide Cedar Grove High School (Ellenwood, Ga.) to it’s first-ever state title.
Hernandez (6-foot, 175 pounds) accomplished that mission last Friday as the Saints defeated Great Atlanta Christian School 30-19 in the Georgia AAA championship game.
“Winning that state title … that’s the goal,” Hernandez said earlier this month. “Getting that ring is something I can say that a lot of kids don’t get to do. I can have those bragging rights wherever I go.”
Hernandez was a main cog in Cedar Grove’s championship season as a standout cornerback and slot receiver.
“He’s always in the right place at the right time doing what he’s supposed to do,” Cedar Grove coach Jermaine Smith told SEC Country. “That’s in the weight room, classroom and on the field. He’s just a good all-around kid.”
Hernandez now will head to Arkansas as a midterm enrollee. He’s set to move to Fayetteville on Jan. 13 after graduating from Cedar Grove earlier this month.

He is expected to chose between Arkansas, Arizona State, Iowa, LSU, Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Michigan State in January.
