FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Arkansas coach Bret Bielema knows this week is a valuable one for his team.
The Razorbacks are coming off an embarrassing 56-3 loss at Auburn that caused the Hogs to fall from the rankings. In that game, Auburn rushed for 543 yards — the most ever against an Arkansas team.
The loss also represented the most lopsided defeat of Bielema’s career as a head coach at both Wisconsin and Arkansas.
“It obviously comes at a good time for us,” Bielema said of the bye week.
The Hogs played eight straight games to start the season, and four of the last five contests have been against ranked teams.
Arkansas (5-3, 1-3 SEC) returns from the bye week with two more games against ranked teams — Florida on Nov. 5 and LSU on Nov. 12 — before wrapping up with trips to Mississippi State and Missouri.
“We’ve gotta get back on track because obviously, it doesn’t get any easier next week with Florida,” Bielema said.
