FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Arkansas coach Bret Bielema responded during his Monday press conference to the professor who screamed obscenities at him following Saturday’s loss to No. 1 Alabama.
Lawton Lanier Nalley, 37, walked down to the northwest corner of Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium following the Razorbacks’ loss and screamed at Bielema, saying that if he had Bielema’s record, he would be “f***ing fired,” and added, “F*** you!”
Nalley — an assistant professor of agricultural economics and agribusiness at the University of Arkansas — was subsequently arrested by university police and charged with public intoxication and disorderly conduct. He was booked and released Saturday night.
Bielema said he was “halfway impressed” that Nalley pronounced his name correctly and added that he does lots of talks around campus each year, including a couple in the agriculture building. He joked that he might not get invited to Nalley’s classroom this year.
Bielema also added that he hasn’t heard anything from Nalley since Saturday.
Nalley did not respond to an email Sunday morning from SEC Country, and a university spokesman had no comment at this time on Nalley’s employment status.
