Arkansas coach Bret Bielema kicked off his run through the ESPN “Car Wash” a day early with a Monday night appearance on SportsCenter.
SportsCenter anchor Kevin Connors asked Bielema about a variety of topics during the interview, which lasted a little more than four minutes.
First, Connors mentioned Bielema’s recent trip to England for Russell Wilson’s wedding to pop star Ciara. Wilson, of course, played quarterback for Bielema at Wisconsin.

“It was a lot of fun,” Bielema said of the wedding. “It was kinda like everybody else’s wedding, but a little more entertainment. It was awesome to see Russell happy and smiling, but after the ceremony, to get entertained by Earth, Wind & Fire was a whole nother level of entertainment.”
On the subject of football, Connors asked Bielema about the pressure of winning in the SEC West, mentioning LSU coach Les Miles ending up on the hot seat last year despite his overall success there.
Bielema played for longtime coach Hayden Fry at Iowa, and subsequently worked under coaches who spent decades at their respective schools like Kirk Ferentz, Bill Snyder and Barry Alvarez.
“I like these places that like longevity of their coaches and I saw Arkansas as that opportunity,” Bielema said. “They went through a little transition with Coach (Bobby) Petrino, Coach (John L.) Smith. It just seems like a place, if you do it the right way, build it the right way, good things can happen for a longer period of time.
“(But pressure on coaches) does go on in the SEC. I get it. The pressure to win is at its highest. I feel it as much as anything. I get a lot of kudos, they say I’m a fun guy to have at SEC Media Days, but believe me, I came to the SEC to be one of those guys.
“I wanna win a championship. That’s what we’re bound to do and it’s gonna happen sooner or later.”
Bielema will appear on SportsCenter again at 7:45 a.m. (ET) Tuesday before making other appearances on ESPN television and radio programs.
