Welcome to SEC Country’s daily Arkansas Razorbacks recruiting notebook. In this edition, we discuss the Hogs making the cut for some top targets.
Four-star athlete Derick Hall has Arkansas in top 8, hopes to visit soon
Arkansas is among the top 8 schools for Class of 2019 athlete Derick Hall. He is rated as a 4-star recruit by the 247Sports composite.
The Hogs are joined on his list by Auburn, Florida State, Louisville, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Vanderbilt. He tweeted the list Monday, his 17th birthday. He has an offer from all eight schools and seven other FBS programs. Though the eight schools he listed with be his main focus for the time being, he stated he’s still keeping his options open for other possibilities.
Hall (6-foot-5, 210 pounds) is a wide receiver and outside linebacker at Gulfport (Miss.) High School. College programs are pursuing him at a variety of positions, including tight end. He is also one of the top players on Gulfport’s basketball team.
As for a visit to Arkansas, that could be coming very soon. Hall told SEC Country on Monday he definitely plans to visit Fayetteville at some point, adding that he hopes during his spring break (the first week in April).
The Hogs practice Tuesday (April 3) and Thursday (April 5) in Fayetteville that week with the spring game Saturday (April 7) in Little Rock. So, it’s a perfect time to potentially host a top target.
Arkansas also makes cut for 2019 targets Kenyon Green, Collin Clay
Arkansas made the cut of two other top 2019 targets last weekend.
Offensive lineman Kenyon Green has the Hogs within his top 10 choices. Green attends Atascocita High School in the Houston suburb of Humble, Texas. Arkansas joins Alabama, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Oklahoma, TCU, Tennessee, Texas and Texas A&M.
Green (6-5, 315) is one of the top prospects in the country seriously considering the Razorbacks. He’s a 5-star tackle and rated the No. 12 overall recruit and No. 1 prospect from Texas in the class. He hasn’t visited Arkansas nor does he have any known plans to do so. But if he does come to campus at some point, that’s a very positive sign for Arkansas recruiting, even if he ends up elsewhere.
The Hogs making Green’s top 10 came as a bit of a surprise. That was definitely not the case with defensive end Collin Clay also putting Arkansas in his top 10. He listed Colorado, Duke, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, Oklahoma State, Oregon and TCU as his top choices along with Arkansas.
Clay (6-5, 255) is a 3-star recruit by the 247Sports composite, but rated a 4-star prospect by Rivals. He attends Putnam City High School in Oklahoma City. Arkansas’ staff has built a very strong relationship with him. He was on campus for a weekend in late February, and is also planning to take his first official visit to Arkansas next month.
