Arkansas’ 2018 recruiting class is up to 11 commitments less than five months until recruits can sign a National Letter of Intent.
The Razorbacks landed the commitment of two recruits within the past week as they near filling all the spots in the class. As of now, the plan is to sign 16 or 17 total.
Here’s an update at where things stand for the 2018 class:
Where Arkansas’ class ranks
Arkansas received a commitment from Pulaski Academy (Little Rock, Ark.) tackle Luke Jones last Saturday. He announced his pledge three days after a visit to campus. Jones joins fellow 3-star tackle Noah Gatlin from Jonesboro (Ark.) as offensive line commits in the class.
The Hogs kept the weekend momentum going by securing the pledge of Clinch County (Homerville, Ga.) defensive end John Mincey on Tuesday. A 3-star prospect, he announced his commitment after visiting the football facilities the same day.
Horn (Mesquite, Texas) 3-star outside linebacker Maureese Wren visited Arkansas on Thursday. He toured the facilities and attended practice. His plan has been to announce a decision Sept. 27, his birthday. The Razorbacks likely pushed to have him commit earlier with the class filling up so quickly.

4 top uncommitted targets
4-star QB Gerry Bohanon, Earle (Ark.)
Bohanon has Arkansas, Baylor, Georgia, Louisville, Mississippi State and Ole Miss as his top choices. He doesn’t currently have a timetable to announce his pledge, though he’s hinted at doing so before his senior season begins. If he’s undecided by then, additional visits this fall would likely be the next step toward a decision.
A trip to Baylor on Tuesday went “great” according to Bohanon. He also recently visited Ole Miss, a trip that took place just days before coach Hugh Freeze resigned.
The Hogs are already in good shape at quarterback with Noland committed. Bohanon would still be a very nice addition as the top in-state prospect in the class. Bielema has stated the Razorbacks would possibly be willing to sign two quarterbacks in the class.
4-star TE Luke Ford, Carterville (Ill.)
Ford (6-7, 250) has gone from firmly committed to a top target for the Razorbacks after he de-committed in June. Alabama has since been listed as his top choice with Arkansas, Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Michigan and a handful of other Power 5 schools still in the mix.
Considering the list of competitors, it’s tough to envision the Hogs retrieving Ford. But Arkansas can point to its two Mackey Award winners since 2010 to trump all others. No other program has two since 2000, when the award for the nation’s top tight end originated.
3-star DL Nicholas Fulwider, Sandy Creek (Tyrone, Ga.)
Initially expected to announce his commitment late this month, Fulwider is now planning to do so in the fall. He intends to take additional visits before deciding, including a trip to Arkansas early in the season. His next trip to Fayetteville will be his second after a visit in June.
Fulwider (6-6, 245) currently has Arkansas, Georgia Tech, Indiana, North Carolina, Rutgers and Vanderbilt as his top choices. His offer list also includes Michigan State, Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Tennessee.
3-star OLB Maureese Wren, Horn (Mesquite, Texas)
Wren visited campus Thursday as Arkansas looks to strengthen its already good chances at getting his commitment. The plan has been to announce a decision on his birthday, Sept. 27, but if he wants to be a Razorback it may have to come sooner. Spots are running out quickly in the current class.
The Hogs are joined by Baylor, Colorado, Missouri, Utah, Washington and 14 other FBS programs on Wren’s list of offers. He plans to visit Colorado on Sunday and Monday.
Here’s a breakdown of the number of commits by position and how many are projected to be signed:
- QB: 1/1 (Noland)
- RB: 1/1 (Gibson)
- TE: 0/1
- WR: 0/0
- OL: 2/3 (Gatlin, Jones)
- DL: 3/3 (Gooden, Mincey, Nichols)
- ILB: 1/1 (Pool)
- OLB: 0/1
- CB: 2/2 (Hanspard II, McCalister)
- S: 1/1 (Flanagan)
(Note: Arkansas has two blueshirts from the 2017 class expected to be put on scholarship later and count towards this class.)
Here’s a breakdown of Arkansas’ commits by state:
- Arkansas: 5 (Flanagan, Gatlin, Jones, Nichols, Noland)
- Texas: 3 (Hanspard II, McCalister, Pool)
- Georgia: 1 (Mincey)
- Louisiana: 1 (Gibson)
- Kansas: 1 (Gooden)
