FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Arkansas junior center Frank Ragnow spoke publicly Thursday night for the first time since his father’s death. His comments came during an appearance on coach Bret Bielema’s weekly radio show.
Ragnow and fellow junior Josh Liddell made “On Air With Bret Bielema” appearances Thursday night. After host and Arkansas play-by-play radio announcer Chuck Barrett asked the pair of players football questions, Barrett acknowledged the elephant in the room, asking Ragnow how he was doing.
“I’m hanging in there,” Ragnow responded. “I’d be lying if I told you I was good. I’ve got my days when I’m struggling and whatnot.”
Jon Ragnow suffered a heart attack and died Oct. 1, just a short time after watching the Razorbacks’ 52-10 win over Alcorn State on television from his home in Victoria, Minn.
Bielema flew home with Ragnow that night.
Frank Ragnow missed a few days of practice during the following week but returned to the team in time to play in Arkansas’ next game, just one week after his father’s death.
Thursday night, Ragnow thanked people around the country for their outpouring of support.
“It’s been phenomenal,” he said. “I’m very thankful for everybody here, everybody in the state of Arkansas.
“My family will never be able to repay you.”
