FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Arkansas freshman linebacker Giovanni LaFrance was not included on the Hogs’ initial 105-man roster because he is injured.
Arkansas coach Bret Bielema tweeted that LaFrance is out with a hand injury.
Sorry that @_France9 can't be out there with us today due to a hand injury. He's had a great summer and will be back soon!

A source told SEC Country that LaFrance’s hand is broken. It is unclear how long he will be out.
France is one of two 2016 Arkansas signees that wasn’t included on the 105-man roster issued to reporters Thursday, when fall camp opened. Junior-college transfer defensive end Michael Taylor also wasn’t listed, although he didn’t sign with the Hogs until last month and still hasn’t arrived on campus.
Arkansas coach Bret Bielema said that Taylor will “probably miss the first two weeks of training camp.”
The 105-man roster expands to 120 when classes begin, and the preseason 105-man roster is fluid, meaning LaFrance and Taylor could be added at some point before school begins.
LaFrance was a three-star prospect out of St. Augustine High in New Orleans. He was one of four high school linebackers the Hogs signed in 2016. He also had surgery on his meniscus earlier this summer, sources said, but that is healed.
“It took awhile to nail it down to 105,” Bielema said during a Thursday news conference. “I am sure you have some questions coming out of that. We had some transition and guys move up out of here. I think it’s a sign of the depth of your roster.
“We are very excited that we have enough talent that we have to make some difficult decisions, ones that are hard to make. I have never been a guy that just automatically invites your 85 scholarship players (on the 105 preseason roster). To me you have got to earn everything in life.
“If they weren’t brought into the 105, it’s not one thing, it’s more of a cumulative of different things. Maybe they are just not in the playing rotation at this point and some other guys have done a better job.”
Another player missing from the 105-man roster is sophomore running back Juan Day, who redshirted as a true freshman in 2014 and appeared in just one game last season.
