FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Arkansas freshman quarterback Cole Kelley recently underwent back surgery to fix a lingering injury, according to coach Bret Bielema.
Kelley is redshirting this season. Bielema called the surgery, which Kelley had two weeks ago, routine.
“That’s been bothering him for quite a while,” offensive coordinator Dan Enos said Monday. “You’ve got to give him credit, he’s been fighting through a lot of pain. He was wincing after making some throws. I just think sometimes guys have these issues.”
Bielema and Enos both said all the post-surgery reports have been positive. Kelley is expected to be back to full health in January and be able to go through spring practices without hindrance.
