Arkansas landed the commitment of 2018 linebacker Andrew Parker on Sunday morning.
Parker (6-foot-2, 225 pounds) announced the decision following a three-day official visit to Fayetteville. He is a 3-star recruit according to the 247Sports composite. He attends Sophie B. Wright High School in New Orleans.
Arkansas signed eight players to its 2018 class during the early signing period in December. Parker joins Jonesboro (Ark.) offensive lineman Noah Gatlin on the commitment list of expected signees in February. Parker was one of several recruiting visitors Arkansas hosted over the weekend. The Razorbacks are expected to add another at least five more commitments to the 2018 class.
Defensive coordinator John Chavis visited Parker in New Orleans on Jan. 12 — the first day of the current recruiting contact period. He was extended an offer following that visit. Chavis had first begun to show interest in Parker while still at Texas A&M. Parker has been an under-the-radar prospect in the 2018 class with his only other FBS offer is from Louisiana-Lafayette. He has received interest from Nebraska and Notre Dame.
Parker has SEC-level size and speed (4.57 40-yard dash) for a linebacker. He had 107 tackles and 26 tackles for loss last season.
