Pulaski Academy (Little Rock, Ark.) 2018 offensive lineman Luke Jones has committed to Arkansas. He announced the decision via Twitter on Saturday after visiting campus earlier this week.
Jones (6-6, 290) is a 3-star recruit according to 247Sports’ composite rankings. The Razorbacks now have 10 commitments in the class and two offensive linemen.
Arkansas offered Jones on June 18 during the Trench Hogs camp in Fayetteville. The coaching staff pushed to land his commitment shortly after along with fellow in-state recruits Noah Gatlin (OL) and Isaiah Nichols (DL) who were offered the same day. Jones decided to hold off at the time, while Gatlin and Nichols secured their spots in the class June 21.
It was still clear, however, that the Razorbacks were the team to beat in Jones’ recruitment. His other offers include Arizona State, Iowa State, Missouri, Oregon and Virginia.
“It’s awesome,” Jones said in June after he received his Arkansas offer. “It’s the in-state school and a really big deal. I’m very happy about it. I’ve always loved Arkansas growing up as a kid.”
Arkansas didn’t express much interest in Jones until last month. Offensive line coach Kurt Anderson and tight ends coach Barry Lunney Jr. have served as his primary recruiters.
“Awesome coaches, really cool guys,” Jones said. “We really actually didn’t talk much until a week and a half before the [Trench Hogs] camp when they really wanted to get me up here.”
Pulaski Academy 4-star 2019 tight end Hudson Henry also visited Arkansas on Wednesday. He is the younger brother of former Razorback tight end Hunter Henry and current outside linebacker Hayden Henry.
EDITOR’S NOTE: Jones deleted the initial tweet declaring his commitment. He reposted moments later and is firmly committed to Arkansas.
