Arkansas’ Kody Walker expected to return to play against Tennessee
Despite losing three straight games, there is some positive news for the Arkansas football team.
Junior running back Kody Walker is expected to return to the lineup for this week’s matchup with Tennessee after breaking his hand against Toledo in Week 2. Walker missed the last two games while dealing with the injury, and his role for Saturday’s game is unclear.
“I expect Kody Walker to be able to help us out in some fashion this week,” coach Bret Bielema told reporters on Monday.
Walker played in 13 games last season and also made one start at fullback. He collected 31 carries for 149 yards and a touchdown last year, while also paving the way for running backs Jonathan Williams and Alex Collins. Walker will be a big addition to a backfield that’s already without Williams, who underwent season-ending foot surgery during the preseason.
In Walker’s absence, true freshman Rawleigh Williams has filled in as the No. 2 back behind Collins. Williams scored his first career touchdown last week against Texas A&M while accumulating 46 yards on eight carries. But Walker’s experience and blocking ability will be a big bonus for the Razorbacks as they try and dig themselves out of a 1-3 hole.
