Arkansas running back Kody Walker is set to return to action this weekend against Auburn, according to coach Bret Bielema.
Walker, who suffered a broken hand in the loss to Toledo, practiced with the Razorbacks on Sunday with a new, smaller cast that will make securing the football easier.
“Kody Walker did tremendous to get his cast cut down,” Bielema told reporters on Monday. “He was here last night. He was very excited about what he was able to do ball management-wise. So we expect to get him back involved in the game plan a little bit more, not only a tailback but at fullback, as well.”
Walker has 10 carries for 28 yards and a touchdown this season.
Bielema also updated the status of wide receiver Jared Cornelius, who has impressed many with his ability to bounce back quickly after suffering a double fracture in his arm. Bielema said last week that Cornelius was out at practice catching balls and running around. Then on Monday, Bielema said the talented wide out was close to being game-ready.
“I don’t think we’ll get Jared back this week,” Bielema said. “He’ll be right on the cusp of being back if everything continues to go the way it should.”
Cornelius has seven receptions for 150 yards and a touchdown this season.
