FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Arkansas is in desperate need of finding a safety to play alongside Santos Ramirez on the backend of the defense. The solution to filling that void early in spring practice his been Kamren Curl.
Ramirez is seemingly locked in as the starter at free safety entering his senior season. The departures of De’Andre Coley and Josh Liddell, who were both seniors last season, have vacated the strong safety spot. That’s where Curl is now being featured with the first team after starting 11 games at cornerback as a true freshman last season.
With Curl at strong safety, Ryan Pulley and Chevin Calloway are playing with the first team at cornerback. Kevin Richardson would be the presumed starter at nickelback if he wins his appeal to the NCAA for a sixth year at Arkansas.
Curl had 46 tackles and 8 pass breakups last season.
