It’s never easy being a college athlete. From practice to class to games, it can get to be too much.
For one Arkansas offensive lineman, it was back issues which finally caused him to call it a career. Jake Heinrich announced Monday night that he’ll forego the rest of his college eligibility.

“Unfortunately, after rupturing multiple intervertebral discs in the last few months alone and having my spine deteriorated to the point of a senior citizen, according to various doctors,” Heinrich said in a letter posted to Twitter, “It simply makes sense to accept this new reality for the sake of my long-term health and quality of life”
Heinrich, who redshirted in 2016, was a 4-star recruit according to 247Sports and was a top 300 player in his class according to the recruiting service. SEC Country selected him as a redshirt freshman who could impact the team prior to the beginning of the 2017 season.
