The media voted Arkansas center Frank Ragnow first-team all-SEC in its preseason poll, while also voting quarterback Austin Allen third-team all-SEC.
Ragnow received 174 votes to become the first-team preseason center. The vote total was tied for fourth most among first-team offensive linemen.
Allen, the league’s leading returning passer, was named to the third team with 102 votes. Alabama quarterback Jalen Hurts was the first-team quarterback, and Mississippi State’s Nick Fitzgerald was voted as the second-team quarterback.

A year ago, Allen threw for 3,430 yards on 61.1-percent passing, with 25 touchdowns and 15 interceptions. His season didn’t end strong, however, as he threw 5 second-half interceptions in the Razorbacks’ final two games — both come-from-behind losses.
Ragnow was an All-American in 2016 according to Pro Football Focus. The analytics site also named Ragnow the best offensive linemen in college football for the 2016 season.
Arkansas picked fourth in the SEC West
The media also picked Arkansas to finish fourth in the SEC West, behind Alabama, Auburn and LSU. The Razorbacks had 796 points, while Alabama — the predicted first-place team in the West and predicted SEC champion — had 1,683 points.
However, Arkansas did received one vote to win the SEC West and the SEC. Since joining the SEC before the 1992 season, the Razorbacks have won the West outright twice. The most recent time came in 2006.
In the East, the media predicted Georgia to come out on top, but just barely. The Bulldogs had 1,572 points, just ahead of Florida with 1,526.
