FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Welcome to SEC Country’s daily Arkansas Razorbacks podcast. On this episode, we talked about the football team’s second scrimmage of the spring, Daryl Macon and Jaylen Barford and their ongoing decisions and the baseball team.
SEC Country launched the Borderline Erotic Podcast on Aug. 29, 2016. It is named after the colorful way Arkansas coach Bret Bielema described how he felt after beating Texas in the 2014 Texas Bowl.
Here is a quick rundown on some of the topics we discuss on this, the 149th episode of the Borderline Erotic Podcast.
Gibson punishment lifted; Johnson’s unknown
We open by discussing the second Arkansas football scrimmage of the spring. One player who was pretty noticeable? Junior right guard Johnny Gibson, who wasn’t supposed to be back with the first unit just yet. We also talk about the status of punter Blake Johnson.
Will the defense be better?
The Arkansas defense looked substantially better Saturday than it did the week before. But does that really mean anything? It’s still far too early to tell if the switch to the 3-4 and new coaches are going to make a substantial difference, but Saturday was definitely an encouraging sign.
Brandon Martin shines
In each of the two scrimmages so far, a wide receiver has been the standout player, although different guys. The first week, it was redshirt freshman Jordan Jones. In the second scrimmage, the big offensive standout was junior-college transfer Brandon Martin. He looks increasingly like a Week 1 starter. We also talk a little about the football team’s injury situation.
Macon/Barford still have big decisions to make
We then moved into some basketball talk to discuss the still-looming decisions of Daryl Macon and Jaylen Barford. What will those guys do? They have plenty of options, including coming back in 2017, playing overseas and making a run at the NBA.
Baseball team bounces back from LSU in a big way
We wrap up this episode with baseball talk. The Arkansas baseball team bounced back in a big way from a disappointing series loss to LSU. The Hogs beat Missouri State in the middle of last week, then swept Georgia over the weekend.
