FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Welcome to SEC Country’s daily Arkansas Razorbacks podcast with Jason Kersey and Trent Shadid. On this episode, we discuss the new women’s basketball coach, some spring football standouts, the Hogs’ tight end situation and baseball.
SEC Country launched the Borderline Erotic Podcast on Aug. 29, 2016. It is named after the colorful way Arkansas coach Bret Bielema described how he felt after beating Texas in the 2014 Texas Bowl.
Here is a quick rundown on some of the topics we discuss on this, the 140th episode of the Borderline Erotic Podcast.
Neighbors comes home as new hoops coach
We open this episode of the podcast by talking about the hiring of women’s basketball coach Mike Neighbors, who is an Arkansas native and takes over the program after leading Washington to 3 NCAA Tournament appearances and a 98-41 record.
Neighbors is tasked with rebuilding a program that struggled mightily in the last season under Jimmy Dykes, who resigned early last month.
Spring football standouts
Next, we talk about some of the standouts who made noise in Arkansas’ first week of spring football practice, including fullback Kendrick Jackson, running back Maleek Williams and offensive lineman Shane Clenin.
During that discussion, we also get into the Hogs’ tight end position. It is typically one of the most important on the roster and probably will be again in 2017, but it also might look different — especially if junior-college standout Jeremy Patton doesn’t make it to campus or takes time getting used to his new surroundings.
Sophomore Austin Cantrell looks like the top tight end currently on the depth chart. He is a different kind of tight end than Jeremy Sprinkle.
Baseball still atop SEC standings
We wrap up this episode of the podcast with a little baseball talk. Arkansas remains tied atop the SEC standings after taking two of three in a weekend series at Alabama.
