FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Welcome to SEC Country’s daily Arkansas Razorbacks podcast with Jason Kersey and Trent Shadid. On this episode, we talked about the baseball team’s series loss to LSU and the football team’s first spring scrimmage.
SEC Country launched the Borderline Erotic Podcast on Aug. 29, 2016. It is named after the colorful way Arkansas coach Bret Bielema described how he felt after beating Texas in the 2014 Texas Bowl.
Here is a quick rundown on some of the topics we discuss on this, the 144th episode of the Borderline Erotic Podcast.
Tough losses for baseball team
We opened this episode of the podcast by talking about the Arkansas baseball team’s weekend series loss to LSU. The Saturday and Sunday losses were disheartening, but Arkansas remains tied for first place in the SEC and still appears to be in good shape for the postseason.
The Diamond Hogs host Georgia next weekend and should be able to easily take care of the Bulldogs, who are near the bottom of the SEC baseball standings.
Defense depth a concern?
Next, we got into Arkansas football, which held its first 2017 spring scrimmage Saturday inside Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium. The first big topic of conversation was the defense.
Should Arkansas fans be worried about the run defense? Probably not yet, but a potentially bigger problem concerns depth on that side of the ball.
Backup QB battle far from settled
There didn’t seem to be any separation Saturday in the battle between Ty Storey and Cole Kelley to be quarterback Austin Allen’s backup.
Arkansas running backs Rawleigh Williams III, Devwah Whaley and Maleek Williams were all impressive. Could Williams and Whaley split carries more evenly next season? We also talked about the wide receivers and who might step up and be playmakers in that group next season.
