Arkansas junior quarterback Austin Allen was removed from the Hogs’ 56-3 loss at Auburn for good during the fourth quarterback due to swelling and tightness in his right knee, coach Bret Bielema said after the game. Bielema added that the full extent of the injury is not yet known.
Allen initially injured the knee in the second quarter Saturday. He exited the game briefly after a low hit left him in obvious pain and struggling to walk off the field.
Ty Storey replaced him before Allen re-entered for the following series with a brace on the knee. Arkansas was trailing 42-3 in the fourth quarter when Allen headed to the locker room.
Allen entered Saturday as the SEC’s leading passer. He completed 17 of his 30 passes for 187 yards and an interception. He had thrown for at least two touchdowns in the Hogs’ previous seven games this season.
