Arkansas quarterback Austin Allen attended the Manning Passing Academy in late June and impressed former Ole Miss and NFL star Archie Manning, according to Razorbacks coach Bret Bielema.
“Austin went to the Manning Academy and Archie shot me a text two days after they were done and said, ‘Wow, what an impressive camp Austin had,’ ” Bielema told the SEC Network on Wednesday.
“I think Archie might know a few things about good quarterback play. That got me excited.”
The academy is hosted by the Manning family at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, La., with Archie serving as director.
The camp featured 33 college quarterbacks, including Clemson’s Deshaun Watson, Ole Miss’ Chad Kelly, Oklahoma’s Baker Mayfield, Tennessee’s Joshua Dobbs, Texas A&M’s Trevor Knight and UCLA’s Josh Rosen.
