Arkansas QB Cole Kelley arrested on DWI charge
Arkansas quarterback Cole Kelley was arrested by the Fayetteville Police Department on Sunday on charges of driving while intoxicated and careless driving.
The arrest came in the hours after Kelley appeared in the Razorbacks’ 33-10 loss to LSU. Kelley, who is a 20-year-old redshirt freshman, replaced Austin Allen in the game played in Baton Rouge on Saturday afternoon. He was 3-of-10 passing for 36 yards and an interception.
Kelley has been thrown into action for an oft-injured Austin Allen during the 2017 season, totalling 1,038 yards passing to go with 8 touchdowns and 4 interceptions.
Arkansas coach Bret Bielema issued the following statement after news of Kelley’s arrest began to circulate on Sunday morning:
“I was informed early this morning of an incident involving Cole Kelley. We are gathering all information from the proper authorities and will make a determination upon review of that information.”
According to arrest records, Kelley was booked at 8:47 a.m. on Sunday.
