FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Welcome to SEC Country’s daily Arkansas Razorbacks podcast. In this episode, John Nabors is joined by Eric Bolin as they break down the Razorback baseball series victory over the Vanderbilt Commodores.
SEC Country launched the Borderline Erotic Podcast on Aug. 29, 2016. It is named after the colorful way Bielema described how he felt after beating Texas in the 2014 Texas Bowl.
Here is a quick rundown of some of the topics we discussed in the 169th episode of the Borderline Erotic Podcast.
Arkansas takes care of Vanderbilt, momentum building
John and Eric open up the podcast by discussing the big series win for the Arkansas baseball team over the Vanderbilt Commodores. In the final home SEC series at Baum Stadium, the Hogs took care of business in a big way with a 2-1 series victory. The Razorbacks had been struggling in the past three SEC series. To have a strong finish to the season and get back on track to host a regional, this series was huge for Arkansas. The Razorbacks travel to College Station this weekend to take on Texas A&M in the final SEC series of the year.
More impressive bounce back: Arkansas basketball or baseball?
John also brings up the comparison of bounce back years by both the Razorback basketball and baseball teams. Last year, Mike Anderson and Dave Van Horn both suffered their worst seasons as head coaches in their careers. Both programs needed to have a big year to bring back confidence from the fan base. Mike and Dave answered the call, but can they build on it going forward?
Nonsense: Derek Jeter’s number retired by the Yankees
In the last nonsensical part of the podcast, John brings up Derek Jeter having his number retired by the New York Yankees. He is one of the greatest players to ever play the game so it makes sense in this case. Retiring numbers has been a part of many different programs and franchises in all sports. But are all of them really necessary?
