FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Arkansas wide receiver Jared Cornelius is healthy and ready to rejoin the team, coach Bret Bielema said Wednesday.
Cornelius was removed from the 105-player roster earlier this month due to a back injury.
Bielema said the plan is for him to rejoin the team for practices next Monday. NCAA rules don’t allow for a player removed from the 105 to return to practices until classes start for the fall semester.
Cornelius is the Razorbacks’ only returning receiver with more than two career receptions. He caught 32 passes, four of those going for touchdowns last season. He was third on the team with 515 receiving yards. At one point last season, he had three consecutive games over 100 yards receiving. Two of those performances came against Texas A&M and Alabama.
Pro Football Focus tabbed Cornelius as their first-team all-SEC slot receiver. The site stated he was second in the conference with 2.54 yards gained per route during the regular season.
During his breakout junior season, Cornelius considered leaving for the NFL before announcing in December he would return to Arkansas.
