Arkansas will be without senior running back Kody Walker for the rest of spring and into the early part of the summer.
Coach Bret Bielema announced Wednesday that Walker suffered a broken foot during Tuesday’s practice. Walker underwent surgery and is expected to fully recover by June, according to Bielema.
“Unfortunately Kody suffered a broken foot during yesterday’s practice,” Bielema said in a statement. “It required surgery that went well today and doctors expect a full recovery. It’s a pretty standard foot injury that we’ve dealt with in the past and we expect him to be full-go by June. If anyone knows how to battle adversity it’s Kody Walker.”
Walker was viewed as one of the leading candidates to replace NFL-bound running backs Alex Collins and Jonathan Williams. Walker rushed for 394 yards and six touchdowns on only 90 carries last season.
