Arkansas RB Rawleigh Williams provides update on neck injury
A scary hit left Arkansas freshman running back Rawleigh Williams with a neck injury during Saturday’s quadruple-overtime win against Auburn. The blow was severe enough that Williams had to be carted off the field on a stretcher while the crowd at Razorback Stadium watched in near silence.
On Sunday, Williams gave an update on his status after spending time at a nearby hospital to receive treatment for the injury.
“I am blessed. The doctor explained that I’m very lucky and should fully recover. My family and I are very thankful for your prayers. WooPig,” Williams tweeted.
Razorbacks coach Bret Bielema provided further information in a statement issued through the school.
“Rawleigh underwent successful surgery Saturday night after injuring his neck in the third quarter of yesterday’s game. He is expected to make a full recovery. A timetable for his return to the football field is unclear, but we are thankful that he is doing well and is with his family. Thank you to everyone for the well wishes, thoughts and prayers.”
That news is about as good as Arkansas fans could have hoped for.
