Arkansas RB taken off field on stretcher after suffering neck injury
Arkansas freshman running back Rawleigh Williams was carted off the field after taking a punishing hit late in the third quarter against Auburn.
Williams took on two Auburn defenders while making a first down, but he never got up. A facemask was called against Auburn on the play, but it appeared that Williams took a hit to the neck and head area, and according to a sideline report on the SEC Network, it appeared that’s what the trainers and medical staff were treating on the field.
Arkansas officially announced it as a neck injury.
The report indicated Williams was in good spirits while getting treatment, but was going to be taken to Washington Regional Hospital for further observation. The network also reported that Williams has movement in his extremities.
The teams were tied, 14-14, at the time and there was about a 10-12 minute delay during the game while Williams got treated.

Williams led the state of Texas in rushing last season with 2,814 yards. Though running back Alex Collins gets most of the carries behind the gigantic offensive line, Williams is set to have a breakthrough game at any moment. He had 236 yards through six games for just 39.3 yards per game with just one touchdown. He had 18 yards on four carries before leaving today’s game.
More details on his condition to follow as they become available.
