Arkansas running back target Rakeem Boyd told SEC Country he plans to make an official visit to Fayetteville next weekend (Jan. 19-21).
Boyd (6-foot, 200 pounds) is a 3-star recruit who spent the 2017 season at Independence (Kan.) Community College. He rushed for 1,211 yards and 14 touchdowns while playing in 10 games at Independence.
He was particularly impressive in his final two games. In the regular-season finale Nov. 11, he rushed for 303 yards and a touchdown on 34 carries. In the Midwest Classic Bowl on Dec. 3, Boyd had 215 yards and 3 scores on 35 carries. He was named offensive MVP of the game.
Boyd spent his freshman season in 2016 at Texas A&M. He redshirted before announcing he would transfer to Independence. He signed with Texas A&M as a 3-star prospect in the 2016 class from Stratford High School in Houston.
Arkansas currently does not have a running back signed or committed in the 2018 class. The Hogs have four scholarship running backs on the current roster.
