Welcome to SEC Country’s daily Arkansas Razorbacks recruiting notebook. This time, we discuss Arkansas being among the finalists for linebacker Thomas Johnston and defensive back Brad Stewart.
Johnston remains interested in Arkansas
Arkansas remains one of the top options for 3-star linebacker Thomas Johnston with National Signing Day a little more than a week away. According to Ben Garrett of Scout.com, the Alabama native lists the Hogs, Iowa and Ole Miss as his final schools.

Johnston (6-foot-2, 215 pounds) officially visited the Razorbacks in early October. He recently told SEC Country’s Benjamin Wolk that he felt Arkansas was the right place for him following that trip. However, he decided to fully explore his other options rather than commit.
The final three choices were decided by Johnston following his visit to Ole Miss last weekend. He visited Auburn the previous weekend but no longer is considering the Tigers, who have recruited him as an H-back.
Johnston has stated he plans to announce his decision Wednesday. Whether the Hogs have a spot for him is uncertain. They already have 22 commits/signees in the class with the expectation to sign 25 at the most.
Recapping the weekend
The Razorbacks hosted 13 recruits as they look to close out the 2017 class. Among the visitors, five remain uncommitted.

Stewart puts Hogs in top 3
The biggest news from the weekend is undoubtedly 4-star defensive back Brad Stewart now listing Arkansas as one of his final three choices. He told SEC Country the Hogs are in contention with Arizona State and Florida.
Stewart (6-0, 194 pounds) has plans to visit the Gators this weekend. The New Orleans native is the cousin of Razorbacks freshman linebacker Giovanni LaFrance.
Arkansas has closed remarkably strong with Stewart. During the last month, the Hogs went from no longer being in consideration to receiving an official and now being a finalist. He is expected to announce his choice on National Signing Day.
