Welcome to SEC Country’s daily Arkansas Razorbacks recruiting notebook. In this edition, we discuss the 2018 defensive signing class, an upcoming signing announcement and a 2019 running back invited to visit.
Chad Morris’ staff off to strong start recruiting defensive help
Arkansas’ defense obviously needs a complete overhaul after allowing an SEC-worst 36.2 points per game last season.
That overhaul must start with recruiting. In the first class under Chad Morris, there’s some promising improvement in that department.
2019 RB Mikey Dukes likes Arkansas ‘a lot’
Arkansas has invited 2019 running back Mikey Dukes to visit Fayetteville this spring.
Dukes (5-11, 195) is a 3-star prospect from Charleston, S.C., with offers from Arkansas, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia Tech and others. He spoke Wednesday night with Morris, who extended the invitation to visit the Hogs’ campus.
“I’ve been informed that [Morris] was at Clemson,” Dukes told SEC Country. “The offense that they run, he basically started it up, then Clemson changed it a little bit and it’s still successful. At Arkansas, they’ve always got great backs, so I like them a lot. I think I’d fit in that offense perfectly.”
Dukes rushed for 2,282 yards and scored 37 total touchdowns last season for First Baptist Church High School.
