Arkansas created a hype video prior to the LSU-Arkansas game that is focused on one thing — the Battle of the Golden Boot.
The two teams play for the Golden Boot each year, and Arkansas won the trophy last season when it shutout LSU, 17-0. The trophy was introduced to the series prior to the 1996 season and since that time, the LSU has won 11 of the 18 meetings between the teams.
The trophy, molded in 24-karat gold in the shape of the conjoined states, stands 4 feet in height and weighs nearly 200 pounds. It’s valued at $10,000 and is believed to be the heaviest trophy awarded in a college football rivalry, according to LSU’s website.
Arkansas coach Bret Bielema said during Monday’s weekly press conference that “people are fascinated with the trophy.”
“People walk through our lobby and want to take pictures of it, and some aren’t quite sure what to do when they’re around it,” Bielema said.
