FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Arkansas sophomore safety Santos Ramirez is expected to play Saturday against Mississippi despite still recovering from a leg bruise.
The injury, which Ramirez sustained three weeks ago against Texas A&M, forced him to exit early in the Hogs’ loss to Alabama last week. He missed all of the previous game against Alcorn State.
Defensive backs coach Paul Rhoads said Tuesday that Ramirez hasn’t fully recovered from the injury. Fellow safety De’Andre Coley added that Ramirez was at practice “running around” Tuesday and is expected to be ready to play Saturday.
“He’ll be a lot closer to full strength this game than he was last game and I think we’ll have a great chance of getting a lot more out of him,” Rhoads said.
Ramirez started the first four games of the season prior to the injury. He has 19 tackles, a forced fumble and a pass breakup.
